Over fall break I got the opportunity to travel to Boston for the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) National Conference. I had been looking forward to it for quite some time and it was finally here!

There were so many sessions throughout the days of the conference that it was hard deciding which one you wanted to go to when there were multiple scheduled at the same time.

One session that I went to ended up being one of my favorites. It was called #PRStrong and Sharon Barbano, the VP of Public Relations for Saucony, was the speaker. She was absolutely incredible!

Sharon gave so much incredible information to those of us listening to her. One thing that she gave us was a list that she called the “strong formula.” This formula includes:

Purpose: 110% fulfillment. Our purpose is the foundation of finding your strong.

Possibility: your 4-minute mile. Our 4-minute mile is what is holding us back; nothing is impossible.

Presence: how you show up. If your presence does not make an impact, your absence won’t make a difference.

Planning: Be first, best or different.

The “B” of the bang: anticipate.

Perseverance: refuse to quit.

Passionate belief: inspire. As your beliefs go, so does your behavior.

A quote that I wrote down from Sharon that I loved is:

“You can’t find your strong if you’re not looking for it.”

I need to find what I am passionate about and go for it! I might not know what it is now, but I need to find it and stick with it.

She was not only an incredible speaker because she gave great information, she was an incredible speaker because you could tell that she is so passionate about what she does. Seeing how passionate she is about PR gives me drive and motivation to hopefully be as passionate as she is.
